Not so comfortable with the term “selling” and a “salesperson”? Were you told that “selling” is not a “real job”?
The truth is that a handful of bad salespeople, who in reality are “conmen,” brought discontent with the terms “selling” and “salesperson”.
Selling as a profession can be the most rewarding job that there is. And in sales, the sky is the limit on how much money you can get! Commissions on sales should be looked upon as an advantage, and not a hardship.
Everyone sells in life, whether the reward is monetary or otherwise.
Getting a person(s) to agree to your ideas is a skill of selling. The master salesperson makes it a great deal for both! When a couple want a different type of holiday, a beach holiday with a cold cocktail, plus mountains behind for hiking, is a winner for both!
Getting your children to go to bed on time, getting them to keep their room clean and tidy is also selling. If you get your sale wrong, you end up with grouchy kids and a messy house. Get a sale and your commission is a happy family.
Let’s consider another example – promotion at work, being recognised and rewarded for hard work. Can you do that without the art of selling? The possibilities are that it takes a sale to CLOSE your boss to reward you, no matter what others say. Fair or unfair, someone got a sale.
Whether you know it or not, you are getting your way in life or the life is getting in your way. You use the skills of selling everyday, wherever you go.
Get rid of an idea that “selling” is difficult and unnecessary. Get your way in life and sell others.
